You Are, I Am - June 16, 2009

As life has gone on the past few months, I haven't written a whole lot. Recently as some things in life have gotten frustrating and it is hard to keep going, I thought of this awkward little letter (no idea why it is awkward but to me it kind of is, maybe because I wrote it but who really knows)............ God's letter to us. I'm sure he says more then what I'm going to say, but I just wanted to share. This is more like "my mind was wondering what God would say and I just wrote down what I thought He'd say to me". SO yeah, here you go!!! It isn't anything special, but I think we need to hear it (or read it) every now and then.

The other day I was texting a friend back and forth, not sure what it was about. I hadn't slept at all the night before....... literally hadn't slept at all. I missed half a day of work. I couldn't seem to get my hands to work to play the guitar. When I sang, my voice sounded like crap and my heart wasn't in it. I couldn't think enough to write, whether that be because I was so stinkin tired or because I couldn't get past my own frustration of how my life was at the moment (which really isn't that bad at all..... just a lack of sleep for one night). The comment she made to me "Maybe you are just supposed to be still?" in the form of a question. I pondered the question. Maybe she was right. I sometimes get so caught up in me me me, how I feel, what I want (which at that time was really just sleep) and I don't stop to think about God. The study a group of us have been going over has also had me thinking. "The Attributes of God" by Tozer (the first 10 being Infinitude, Immensity, Goodness, Justice, Mercy, Grace, Omnipresence, Immanence, Holiness, and Perfection). GREAT book that just gives you a headache because you try to imagine how absolutely AMAZING and GREAT God truly is........ but you can't because he is so much bigger than we can wrap our little bitty brains around. Anyways, here is the thoughts that ran through my head. Enjoy.

Dear Father God,
When nothing seems to work,
You are the only constant.
My hands won’t work to play the guitar and my voice won’t work to sing and my mind won’t work to write. You write me this letter and say:

Dear Beloved,
Be still.
Lean on me.
Know I am your Father God,
The one and only.
Your all in all.
I am the Lord of all.
I am the Lord of the Universe
I am the Father of all.
I love you and will never fail you
For love never fails and I am love.
When I break you down
I will pick you back up and carry you
Just know that it is for your own good, that there are lessons in life to learn.
With me, those lessons are worth learning and going through.
You’ll see what I mean if you are patient and give it time.
When you are frustrated with the little things in life,
I’ll be by your side to comfort you.
Through the tears and the hurt,
The cheers and the laughter,
I am in it all, by your side.
Through your struggles and pain,
Smiles, hugs, and joyful moments,
I am in it all, by your side, sharing it all with you.
So when nothing seems to work,
Life is crazy,
You can’t play, sing, sleep, or write because something is not quite right,
I say to you 'be still'.
Rest in me and abide in me and your strength will come from me.
Sing my praises, glorify me for me.
I sing of your beauty and have made you beautiful to me.
I have made everything beautiful and rejoice over it,
That includes you.
I am the only infinite,
In all, above all, below all, around all, outside all, and of all.
I am the all powerful who has conquered the world.
I am the all knowing who has your paths created for you,
Just follow me and trust me and you will experience the plans I have for you.
Cling to me and my promises and I will give you the hope and fulfillment of your future.
I’m bigger than anything you can imagine.
I’m better than anything you have ever experienced before.
My love fills you to a fullness you have never known before.
My blessings and gifts to you are new everyday,
You just have to know where to look and how to accept them.
I sent the one that I loved to die for you,
You may not have deserved it but I think it was worth it.
You are my child, my beloved, my family.
I love you, I’ll take care of you, if only you will allow me to.
Seek me in all that you do,
Work, school, family, friends, and fun.
Seek me and I will keep you safe and protected from the evil one.
I am your shield, you sword, your hope.
Use me in that way.
I love you my dear one.
I will never you leave you.
I am with you through it all.
Look at the sunrise and the sunset.
I am there……… see me in that and know that I’m there.
I made that. I painted that for you to see me.
Marvel at it and see me.
If I can do that, create the stars of heaven, build galaxies, mold you in my image, what CAN’T I do?
