So, we’ve all most likely seen the “What is G?” commercials…. Most of them on ESPN (it is Gatorade in case you were wondering). I thought I’d answer this question my own way, seeing as this week has been so full of questions (okay so more like the past 2 months have been full of questions for me but this last week has been reflective questions): What are my motives and purpose in life? What is my TRUE (not fake) identity-to me, to God, and to my friends? Who is God and what has he done for us? What/Who is G? SO here are some of my thoughts :). Enjoy!

G is…
G is God. Who is God and what does he do? God is a father, provider, and a friend; the creator of the universe.
Isaiah 40:28-29
28 Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
29 He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
God knows all that we do. He knows our hearts. He knows our every intention and our every motive. He knows every thought, word, or feeling passing through our minds and bodies before we do.
Psalm 139:1-3
1 O LORD, you have searched me
and you know me.
2 You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.
3 You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.
He knows our sin and salvation: past, present, and future. “Salvation is 3-fold: past-saved from the penalty of sin; present-saved from the power of sin; future-saved from punishment of sin." ~My Aunt Tammy. He is the only judge of our actions and our entire being (Romans 2:1-16; you can read that one on your own) He is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent; the Alpha and the Omega; the beginning and the end.
Revelation 1:8 ~ “"I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty."”
He knows our filth and how undeserving we are; even though we think we deserve it all. He views us as “worth it”, lost sheep, children in his eyes. He knows all of these things, yet he still sent and gave his son in the flesh; the lamb without blemish who died on the cross for us and bought us from sin with his blood.
1 Peter 1:18-21 ~ “For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.”
He did this so that we as sinners may come to know him and his love; that we may be saved by grace through faith.
Ephesians 2:8-9 ~ “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.”
He is indescribable, never-ending, uncontainable, ever-loving, and gracious. His mercies, love, and blessings to us number the stars (Psalm 96 talks about how great God is and the many blessings he has given us; Genesis 22:17 states one of the many promises made to us by God; Psalm 62 is another GREAT passage talking about how he is our rock, salvation, and fortress). He is the definition and illustration of love. He is G. He is God.

So I realize this doesn’t COMPLETELY explain who God is, but those were the thoughts that I jotted down today when I was not paying attention in class…… needless to say, my mind wonders sometimes. It is also a reminder of how amazing God is. SO that is that and that is MY version of “What is G?”.
FEEL FREE to throw out other references or more passages about how great our Lord is!!!! I LOVE reading peoples' comments ;)
